2020 BWHWC Virtual Wellness

Momma, I see you.

I see you winning. I see you thriving. I see you keeping it together under pressure.

I see you smiling through the pain. Through the journey. Through the unknown.

You’re not alone.

This is where you need to be.

Let me introduce you to a community, a sisterhood really, of Black women who support each other while keeping their self-care in check and their mental health on point. These women are a force!

The sisterhood I’m talking about is the Black Women’s Health and Wellness Conference. This year was scheduled to be the 5th annual conference, and planned to have its largest gathering of women since the conference was founded by Jessica Brown and Chioko Grevious in 2016.

We all know that the 2020 has been straight out of a scene from the Twilight Zone, and the fight for equality and justice for Black Americans has been the strongest it’s ever been since our nation’s founding. As we fight for #BlackLivesMatter and our communities are marching, people are hurting and many lives have been up-ended like never before, all in the first 6 months!

Enter, the BWHWC virtual wellness workshops. They are right on time for our community of Black women to commune together, a safe space to heal together, to be accepted as you are, and take a moment out of daily events to focus on ourselves.

In collaboration with Carrie’s TOUCH and the First Baptist Church of Sacramento, and in alignment with the Dignity Health, Unveiling Breast Cancer – Mind, Body, Soul – Service the Whole grant, the BWHWC will provide outreach services to advocate for the health and wellness of Black/African American women. Because of the impact of COVID-19, the BWHWC is offering virtual wellness activities in lieu of the annual in-person conference.

BWHWC is hosting a series of FREE wellness workshops, starting with BWHWC Yin Yoga lead by yoga instructor Melody Johnson. Join us every second Sunday from 4:30 – 5:30pm for starting June 14, 2020, and ending October 11, 2020. These five sessions will allow participants to unwind and center themselves during these trying times.

Join our newsletter and check out our website at https://bwhwc.org/bwhwc-2020 and stay in the loop on the upcoming events that will be offered.

See you there! Stay blessed, momma.

Love,

Momma Naturalista
